Catching Up...
Nearly two months behind on keeping my promise to write every day, (April 17 to June 5)I am now re-dedicating myself to catching up. I'll be posting about three to five days worth of journal entries on a daily basis until I'm back to the present so keep in mind that if you want to read each day as it happened, you need to start "low on the page" and work your way upward as they are posted in reverse chronological order. (If you have an MBA, this means "the dates are backwards.")
Thank you for the multitude of emails asking about AxL the Dog. In short, I'm stunned. He's had nothing short of a miracle recovery since March, thanks to steroid injections, acupuncture and thyroid medicine resulting in two things: 1. A big-ass vet bill... and, more importantly; 2. An unrecognizable Mr. AxL...people we met in March cannot even believe he's the same dog that could barely walk ten steps down the street before falling over with his eyes rolling back in his head. Last week, he actually "GALLOPED" down the sidewalk for no reason at all other than he "felt like it." Yea, go figure.
As for me? I love my new job but more importantly, I seem to be amidst a "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy Life-makeover" but luckily, I'm under the tutelage of a gorgeous French Mademoiselle. Yes, the French really do say, "ooh la-la."
Other things? I saw "Troy" and thought it sucked big time. I was hoping for another "Braveheart" or "Gladiator." And I'm a huge Brad Pitt fan after "Twelve Monkeys," "Legends Of The Fall" and mostly "Fight Club"..."Troy" had it's good points...but the dialogue was more than painful which left me enjoying nothing but popcorn as I struggled against walking out. On a random note: tomorrow, I will give away all of my furniture.
Additional random notes: I've had my ass kicked hard in tennis, twice, by a girl...and I've lost $20 as a result. I've now rollerbladed most of the city including Times Square during rush hour. I've spent about four weeks not falling asleep before four a.m. for various reasons, one of which was a night dancing in a gay club with sweaty, half-naked men until 5:30 a.m. (No, I'm still straight.)
I've been to more places than I can count, including having dim sum just a table away from Matt Dillon...a week after brushing past Christy Turlington...and two weeks before chilling outside Will Smith's trailer in Soho. Oh, and I bought a designer toilet seat with a lid since mine was lidless upon moving in...so my toilet has finally ceased being the grotesque recipient of accidentally dropped items.
That said, my NYC days are numbered as I'll be moving soon, but not before I squeeze out some more great memories in this incredible city full of electric life.
